About Ananda Living

India's Dignity-First Active Ageing Community

Ananda Living is a resident-first Active Ageing community built around dignity, independence, connection, purpose, and wellbeing — not an old-age home, retirement real estate project, or care facility.

Why we exist

Building a More Meaningful Future for Ageing in India

India is changing. People are living longer, families are evolving, and a new generation of older adults is looking for ways to continue living with independence, connection, and purpose.

Ananda Living Foundation was created to help build a new model of Active Ageing — one that recognises growing older not as a withdrawal from life, but as an opportunity for continued growth, contribution, and belonging.

Our story

How Ananda Living began

Over decades of working with technology, systems, and large organisations, the founder experienced how thoughtful design, strong communities, and enabling systems can transform people's experiences.

This led to a deeper question:

How can India create communities where people do not wait for dependency before seeking connection, belonging, and support?

This question became the foundation of Ananda Living.

Our belief

What guides Ananda Living

These convictions shape how we design community life and steward the institution.

  • Ageing is a journey, not a limitation.

Growing older can be a chapter of continued growth, contribution, and belonging — not a withdrawal from life.

  • Independence and community can coexist.

Private autonomy and shared connection belong together in a well-designed Active Ageing community.

  • Experience gained over a lifetime has value.

Wisdom, skill, and lived experience strengthen community life and should be recognised and welcomed.

  • Technology should empower human connection.

Systems and tools serve people — making daily life easier while deepening relationships, not replacing them.

  • Every generation deserves environments designed around its needs.

Spaces, programmes, and services should be shaped for how people actually live, move, learn, and connect.

Our approach

How we build the community

Five pillars keep every decision resident-centred and institutionally responsible.

  • Resident First

Every decision begins with resident experience.

  • Dignity First

Respect, autonomy, and choice guide the community.

  • Active Ageing by Design

The environment encourages movement, learning, connection, and purpose.

  • Responsible Innovation

Technology serves people, not the other way around.

  • Long-Term Institution Building

Ananda Living focuses on sustainable impact, not short-term solutions.

Our commitment

How we hold ourselves accountable

  • Transparent governance
  • Responsible operations
  • Evidence-informed approach
  • Respect for resident choice
  • Continuous improvement
